Zain
Beirut - Dawra - Rahil’s Room
In the dim warmth of a makeshift room lined with rusted metal walls, Zain lies still, staring at the ceiling half-alert,
half-lost. One foot casually rests against a glowing bulb, the only source of light in the cramped shelter. He’s not
playing. He’s waiting.
In this moment, Zain is hiding in Rahil’s home, a space that barely holds comfort, but offers something he’s long
been denied, safety. Rahil is out on the streets, desperately trying to gather money for a forged ID. Zain, left
behind with her baby, is quietly caught between hope and uncertainty, bracing for what might come through the
door or what might never return.
This scene holds the quiet ache of childhood interrupted, where even the act of waiting feels like survival.
