Zain
Beirut - Transit Bus
After stabbing the man who forced his sister into marriage and ultimately caused her death, Zain
escapes the chaos of home, boarding a city bus with no destination but away. Curled into a seat,
he stares out the window, his expression blank yet burning with grief, guilt, and rage. His young
body carries the weight of too much loss.
Beside him sits the so-called “Cockroach Man” a street performer dressed in a superhero
costume, paid by the amusement park to lure passersby inside. Though absurd, the character
becomes a surreal companion on Zain’s journey a symbol of escapism in a city that rarely offers
any.
This scene captures a fragile pause in Zain’s unraveling path a boy in exile, drifting through the
city's veins, moving silently toward the amusement park, and into a different kind of survival.
